Art Installment in Downtown Columbia
COLUMBIA - A new piece of artwork is being installed in downtown Columbia Thursday.
The piece is called "Tidal Murmur."
The $58,000 project was created and designed by Beth Nybeck, and is made of stainless steel.
It will sit outside of Short Street Parking Garage on the Worley Street side. Worley Street, between Orr Street and Hubbell Drive, will be closed until 5 p.m. Thursday.
The stainless steel design is 40 feet long, 20 feet wide, and 18 feet tall. The three steel beems will have 3 to 4 feet of separation between them so people can walk in-between the beams.
The artist's inspiration was the ripple effect. In a presentation made to the Columbia City Council, she said it shows we are all connected, and our lives are affected by each other.
