Ashland Police Department Gets New Leadership
ASHLAND -Wednesday brought changes to the Ashland Police Department. Current Captain Terry Toalson is filling in as police chief while city officials look for a permanent replacement.
The Ashland Board of Aldermen decided to put Ashland police chief Anthony Consiglio on paid administrative leave during a closed meeting Tuesday night.
Ashland Mayor Mike Jackson said Consiglio's contract was not renewed last month. Jackson said it was difficult for Consiglio to perform the duties of his job without a contract. Jackson said he believes Consiglio's administrative leave is best for the morale of the department.
Captain Toalson said Ashland Police Department is fully functioning and working to serve the residents of Ashland. Toalson said he hopes to provide a smooth and seamless transition to a new police chief.
