JEFFERSON CITY - An Ashland woman pleaded guilty to multiple tax violations Monday in Boone County Circuit Court.

Barbara Kay Boland, 42, was charged with seven counts of failure to file and pay sales and withholding tax. She did not file a sales tax return or pay sales tax on several occasions in 2009 and 2011. Boland also failed to collect or pay withholding tax in 2009 and 2011.

The guilty plea follows a 10-month investigation by the Criminal Tax Investigation Bureau of the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Boland was the office manager of Wilben Fireside Supply in Columbia.

She is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 18.

The failure to file and pay sales and withholding tax is an unclassified felony, carrying a punishment of not less than two years, but no more than five years in prison.
