Assault and Pursuit Incident
The complaint was that 45-year-old Bettina King had borrowed a car and not returned it. Officers made notice of the missing car and were attempting to locate it when they were called back to Dove Street at 1:44 a.m., this time for a disturbance with a gun.
The report was that King had returned the car to the residence, but was displaying a handgun threateningly. When officers arrived, King fled the scene and did not stop for the emergency vehicles. The chase went into northern Boone County, back to Columbia and then ended in northwest Boone County. King's vehicle was damaged with tire spikes and was finally stopped after running into a fence on personal property.
King did not exit the vehicle willingly and officers finally had to subdue her with tasers. Soon after she was taken to a local hospital, but not because she was injured in the pursuit. King told officers that she had recently swallowed a large amount of drugs.
King faces a list of charges, including: Second Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault of a Law Enforcement Officer, Misdemeanor Property Damage, and multiple traffic offenses.
