Audrain County Accident Shuts Down U.S. 54
AUDRAIN COUNTY - Three people were sent to the hospital after an accident shut down all four directions of U.S. 54 and Highway 19 east of Mexico and south of Laddonia for over an hour after an accident Monday morning.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reports a car headed southbound on U.S. 54 hit the passenger side of another vehicle driving westbound on Highway 19, pushing the westbound vehicle into a ditch. The driver of the westbound vehicle was flown by Evac Lifeline to University Hospital in Columbia. Both people in the southbound vehicle were taken to Audrain Medical Center by ambulance.
Traffic was beginning to move again at "Baysinger's Corner" around 11:25 a.m., according to KOMU 8's reporter on the scene, after about an hour-long delay.
