BOONE COUNTY - The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Tuesday it was continuing a search for a body in the Missouri River.
MSHP said two troopers were searching the river on a boat after putting in south of Rocheport and headed north. At 10:30 a.m. Corporal Scott White with the MSHP said the search team had turned south.
Authorities said they received a call around 8:15 p.m. Monday saying a body was in the Missouri River. The call came from someone walking along the Katy Trail about a mile south of Rocheport. The Boone County Fire Protection District said it deployed two search boats on the river, along with one boat from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Firefighters said they suspended the search about 10:45 p.m. because impending weather, unfavorable water conditions and the darkness were making it difficult.
The investigation was turned over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, according to authorities. The Boone County Fire Protection District said it was not asked to continue the search.
