Bachelor's Degree Available in Sedalia
The new 2 Plus 2 program lets students stay at State Fair and take classes through Central Methodist University.
Joan Hinkle Flees wants to earn her bachelor's degree in accounting. Now, she will be able to stay in Sedalia and take classes instead of driving 60 miles to Fayette.
"It would have been a lot harder for me," she explained. "I possibly could have done it, but this makes it a lot easier for me to do it this way."
Starting next semester, the new plan will be available to students in four departments. The program lets students with an associate's degree take classes to earn their bachelor's degrees in nursing, business, accounting or child development. School officials hope the program will include other degrees in the future.
"We do believe this program will grow and expand over the years," said SFCC President Marsha Drennon, "and we look forward to that opportunity."
Students in the program will pay $140 per credit hour, plus a $5 per hour student services fee. Central Methodist University professors will travel to Sedalia to teach the upper-level courses.
