Baker Named Second Team All-American
FULTON, MO. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced its 2011 All-American Women's Division I basketball team. Senior Rachel Baker (Mexico, Mo.) was selected to the Second Team. Baker was named to the Third Team in 2009 and 2010. She becomes the first three-time women's basketball All-American at William Woods.
Baker averaged 15.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. She led the team in scoring (510), rebounds (247) and blocked shots (62). Baker was also named First Team All-American Midwest Conference as well as the AMC Player of the Year. This marks the second time in three seasons she earned the league's top honor.
Baker ends her career at William Woods in the top five in career scoring (4th), rebounds (3rd), steals (2nd), blocked shots (2nd), field goals made (5th) and free throw percentage (3rd).
The 2010-11 WWU women's basketball team finished the season 30-5 on the year. The team set a new school record for wins in a season and advanced to its third consecutive NAIA National Tournament. The Owls earned the programs first victory at the National Tournament and ended its season with a loss to Westminster College (Utah) in the Sweet 16.
