Batter Up: Columbia Little League Team Heads for World Series
"It's a challenge for some of the parents, some are very fortunate," said Melody Marcks. "We're trying to come home and work as much work as we're here."
However, parents also are living the dream of a lifetime through their kids.
"The whole Indianapolis experience was phenomenal, and now, I don't know anybody quite expected what we're now going to be doing and going to Williamsport, but it's just been unbelievable," said Brian Marcks.
Melody added, "I said, 'Your family has become a lot larger. You're no longer at 3020 Wildflower Court, you're part of Columbia, you're part of Boone County, you're part of Missouri, you're part of this region, and you're representing a large part of the country, of the United States.'"
The team raised money for two hours Tuesday to help pay for the trip to the Little League World Series. Their hotel costs $150 a night and a round-trip airline ticket to Williamsport costs about $400.
