Benabid leads Cougars past Owls, Columbia College wins 59-54

FULTON, MO - The Columbia College Cougars Men's team defeated the William Woods Owls on Thursday, 59-54.

The Cougars were able to get the offense going early in the half and never looked back. William Woods kept it close throughout the half but it just wasn't enough. Columbia College led the Owls going into halftime, 37-28.

The Owls were able to turn the tables and mount a comeback attempt in the second half. William Woods outscored Columbia College 26-22 in the second half but ended up coming up just short of victory.

Thibault Benabid was automatic for the Cougars putting up a game high 23 points on 67% shooting as well as grabbing a team high 10 rebounds. Mackenzie Fessler led the Owls in scoring with 15 points. Owl's Center Darius Yohe was the leading rebounder for the game with 17 boards as well as putting up 13 points.

Columbia College will travel back home to take on the Park University Pirates on Saturday February 1st at 3 p.m CT.
