Benton County Sheriff's Deputy suffers self-inflicted gunshot wound
WARREN - A Benton County Sheriff's Deputy is recovering after he shot himself at a gun range Monday night.
According to a facebook post by the Benton County Sheriff's Office, Major Jeff Canfield shot himself in the lower torso while taking part in a training exercise around 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Major Canfield was airlifted to University Hopsital in Columbia, where he is recovering.
The Sheriff's Office said the bullet did not hit any vital organs. Major Canfield is expected to be okay.
