Big snow flakes bring family fun for all
COLUMBIA - Stephens Lake Park was the place to be Sunday afternoon after some wet snow landed all across mid-Missouri earlier in the day.
People young and old came out to enjoy the snowfall.
“We were excited, it’d been like three years since we’ve had a good snow so we were ready to hit the ramps,” Levi Lenon said.
One little girl could not believe how long it had been since she went sledding.
“I don’t know, but probably thirty years,” Addelyn Lenon said.
Sleds were not the only things racing down the hills on Sunday, one hopeful, future Olympian was also honing her skills.
“I was like, ‘Oh good, I get to test out my snowboard,” Brome Gamble said.
Gamble was inspired to like snowboarding while watching the Winter Olympics.
“I really like the Olympics, snowboarding is probably my favorite sport,” Gamble said.
Along with all of the people out sledding Sunday there were a few four legged friends too.
Amber McCabe and James Hegeman were accompanied by Zola, the pug, and Stella, the bulldog, who like to be outdoors just as much as everyone else.
“They love hiking and doing every activity,” James Hegeman said.
McCabe and Hegeman slid down the hill with their dogs chasing behind them.
Everyone’s plans after playing in the snow involved a sweet treat. Some folks went hot, others went cold.
“Stay till we’re soaked and then a cocoa on the way home to warm up,” Levi said.
“Probably go to Andy’s, that’s kind of our puppy cone that we end our adventures with,” McCabe said.
