JEFFERSON CITY -- Despite a 33 point performance by Cedric Ridle, the Lincoln men's basketball team fell short on Saturday afternoon at home to the Southwest Baptist Bearcats 81-74.

The story of the day was the turnover battle. The Blue Tigers allowed 16 points off of turnovers and had 15 of them as a team.

Rebounding on the offensive side of the ball proved to be a deciding factor in this game. The Bearcats were able to pull down 14 offensive rebounds as opposed to Lincoln's seven. The second chance opportunities presented to Southwest Baptist would prove to be a deciding factor in the outcome of the game for the Blue Tigers.

The game was close throughout the entire contest, until rebounding and turnovers eventually got the best of Lincoln. Late in the second half, Ridle drove to the lane and hit a seven- foot teardrop that would give the Blue Tigers a 64-63 lead with 4:12 to go. However, Lincoln would turn around and give up two three pointers late in the game to the Bearcats leading scorer Preston Guiot.

Despite the loss, there were strong showings by Lincoln's leading scorer Ridle, and double digit performances by Shakir Preston and Jeremy Jackson. Preston was able to score 12 points and contribute with a steal and a block. Jackson proved himself capable of running the offense by scoring 10 points and dishing out four assists. Devin Booker played tough defense coming up with two steals and scoring seven points.

\Charles Cole also had a good game, pitching in with five points and four rebounds. Senior Brandon Stanciel anchored the defense for much of the night, pulling down eight rebounds. Montez Fifer also scored four points and grabbed three rebounds. Paul Gentle was also able to contribute in tonight's contest by going 1-3 from the field.

The loss now drops the Blue Tigers to 2-12 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. The Southwest Baptist Bearcats improve to 3-9 on the year, and 1-3 in MIAA play.

Lincoln will be back in action next Thursday at Jason Gym to face the MIAA leading Pittsburgh State at 7:30 p.m. CST.
