Blues drop Game 1, Sharks take 1-0 lead in conference final
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Sharks pulled away in the third period on Saturday to take a 1-0 series lead in the Western Conference Finals, beating the Blues 6-3.
This might be a familiar feeling for Blues fans, who last faced the San Jose Sharks in the 2016 Western Conference Final. San Jose won that series 4-2.
Two penalties from Jay Bouwmeester and Colton Parayko within a minute gave the Sharks a 5-on-3 advantage at the 10:33 mark in the first period.
Joe Pavelski converted shortly after on the power play for the Sharks to put San Jose up 2-1. Ryan O'Reilly got the Blues within a goal at the 8:58 mark in the second period.
The dagger came from Logan Couture, his second of the day, with an empty-net goal to put the Sharks up 6-3.
Game 2 is scheduled for Monday, May 13th at 8 p.m. on NBC.
