Blues take their first ever Stanley Cup Final
BOSTON - The St. Louis Blues claimed their first ever Stanley Cup against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.
The Blues recorded a 4-1 victory in Game 7 of the final. They are the third team in a row to win Game 7 on the road in the Stanley Cup Final.
Ryan O'Reilly put the first point of the game with two minutes left of an intense first period.
Alex Pietrangelo ended the first period with a goal to make it 2-0 Blues.
Jordan Binnington owned the second period with saves on 11 attempted shots from the Bruins offense.
The Blues offense found their way back onto the scoreboard with goals by Brayden Schenn and Zach Sanford in the third period.
Matt Grzelcyk put an end to Binnington's save record with under two minutes left in the third period but could not even the score.
The final buzzer signified a historic moment for St. Louis with their first Stanley Cup win.
Ryan O'Reilly was named the series MVP and the Blues celebration began.
