Board Debates Confederate Flags
Members of the State Park Advisory Board say they're concerned about possible legislation that would allow the board to decide if the Confederate flag should fly over Missouri's historical grave sites. At a meeting yesterday in St. Joseph, board member Wayne Morton said the law could bog them down. A bill tabled earlier this year would have granted the board decision-making powers on changes to state historical military sites, including whether to display the Confederate flag. The bill also stated that any other state agency would have to get approval from the board before making changes to the sites. The legislation is expected to be reintroduced next year. No official action was taken on the subject.
