OSAGE COUNTY - A near head-on collision killed a Jefferson City man and woman and sent four others to the hospital Saturday night after two boats crashed on the Gasconade River.

Mary Talken, 25, and Larry Hennier, 48, of Jefferson City were killed when the boat they were travelling on was struck by another boat while passing through a narrow passage of the river around 6:30 p.m., according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Four others were transported to nearby hospitals, including one victim who was transported by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia.

One other victim refused treatment at the scene and none of the five people involved in the crash were wearing life-jackets, according to Highway Patrol.
