Boil water advisory in place for parts of Boone County
BOONE COUNTY - Boone County Consolidated Public Water Supply District No. 1 announced Monday morning that parts of Boone County are under a precautionary boil water advisory following a water main leak.
The advisory, issued for the next 48 hours, affects customers north of Interstate 70 in the Hatton Chapel Road, Route E and Roemer Road area.
Officials urge customers to boil water for three minutes vigorously prior to use. Customers should use boiled water for drinking, brushing their teeth, diluting fruit juices and all other food preparation or consumption and let it cool sufficiently before drinking.
Officials advise customers not to use ice from an automatic icemaker or made from unboiled water. Customers should remake ice with boiled or bottled water.
Dishes should be disinfected with clean tap water containing one tablespoon of household bleach per gallon of water.
Water for hand-washing or bathing does not generally need to be boiled, according to officials. Supervise children while bathing or using backyard pools so water is not ingested. People with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult a doctor.
Officials encourage customers to contact the water district at (573) 449-0324 if they have any questions.
