Boone Co. Deputies Arrest Four After Chase
BOONE COUNTY - Deputies from the Boone County Sheriff's Department arrested four Columbia men early Monday morning after a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation.
The department said a deputy tried to stop a vehicle in the area of Vandiver Drive and Highway 63 around 12:45 a.m. The department said the driver of the vehicle then headed north on Vandiver Drive and drove east on Mexico Gravel Road to avoid the deputy.
The department said the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a curb at the roundabout at Mexico Gravel Road and Ballenger Lane, which caused all four tires to deflate.
The department said all four occupants in the vehicle attempted to flee on foot. The department arrested the driver and the three passengers after a short foot pursuit.
The department said it took the driver, 28-year-old Maurice Robinson, into custody for endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, driving with a revoked license, property damage, careless and imprudent driving and speeding.
The department said it took 24-year-old Duran Griffith and 22-year-old Dushane Griffith into custody for resisting arrest.
The department said the fourth passenger was a juvenile and was detained by the juvenile office.
