Boone County sex offender accused of burglary after foot chase
COLUMBIA - A sex offender wanted for violating his parole was being held without bond Thursday morning after being arrested in connection to a burglary earlier in the week.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department said it arrested 35-year-old Dennis Bunn Tuesday.
Deputies found Bunn after they were dispatched to a report of an abandoned vehicle on McGill Creek Road in Rocheport. Authorities discovered the car was stolen, and spoke to a resident who said they saw a suspicious person walking nearby.
When a deputy spoke to Bunn, he went into the nearby woods, and the deputy chased him. The deputy arrested Bunn, who had a small amount of suspected methamphetamine.
About an hour and a half after the arrest, a resident reported a burglary in the 3100 block of North McGill Creek Road. Deputies found cash and jewelry in the woods behind the house, as well as a pipe with methamphetamine residue and Bunn's ID.
Bunn was taken to a hospital after telling deputies he ingested what they thought was meth. He was released from the hospital Wednesday night and taken to the Boone County Jail.
