Boone Hospital Center Unveils New Emergency Center
COLUMBIA - The emergency room isn't normally a happy place to end up, but Boone Hospital Center wants to make the experience run more smoothly. It took a year and $1.8 million to make a series of renovations to the emergency department of Boone Hospital Center.
The project added four new emergency rooms, for a total of 16. The hospital also added a second nurses station and more than doubled the size of the waiting room. The emergency room is the entry point for 32,000 patients each year, so there will be some more room for those people.
This project was a challenge since the emergency department remained open while these renovations took place. Now that it's complete, the hospital's president says he hopes it will help enhance the flow of the hospital and help the hospital better care for its patients.
