Both LU Track & Field Teams Remain the Highest-Ranked in MIAA
JEFFERSON CITY — Both Lincoln track & field teams are the highest-ranked MIAA programs in the country, as the Blue Tiger women are No. 2 and the LU men are No. 8 in the final regular season United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II national poll, released on Tuesday.
The Lincoln women are ranked No. 2 in the country after receiving 227.97 points in the latest poll. The Blue Tigers are less than four full points out of first, as Grand Canyon received 231.83 points to regain the top overall ranking.
Other than the Blue Tiger women, No. 21 Missouri Southern, No. 22 Pittsburg State and No. 23 Central Missouri also represent the MIAA in this week's rankings.
In the men's poll, Lincoln is ranked No. 8 with 109.06 points, making the Blue Tigers once again the MIAA's highest-ranked team.
Twenty-one members of Lincoln's men's and women's track & field teams were selected on Tuesday to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, which will be held in Pueblo, Colo. from May 23-25.
