FULTON - William Woods softball pitcher MacKenzie Bowden was awarded the American Midwest
Conference Pitcher of the Week, for her stellar performances this past week in California.

The Missouri native appeared in four games, finishing with a record of 2-1, with over 21.1 innings pitched, allowing 14 hits, four runs, totaling 25 strikeouts and walking just 10. Even though the Owls lost the game in which Bowden pitched in 2-0 against #1 Cal State San Marcos, she still pitched a gem allowing six hits, two runs and striking out six batters in her complete game outing.

The junior picked up wins over Vanguard who has been receiving votes in the NAIA poll, and Biola University. Against Biola, Bowden pitched her best game in California, as she allowed just three hits, one run and striking out a season high 11 batters. She kept opposing offenses off their game in California, making her ERA a mere 0.67.

On the season, MacKenzie holds a 1.19 ERA to go along with a 3-3 record through six games started (all complete games) and has a K/BB ratio of 49/14.

The team stands at 6-6 overall and will be on the road on Thursday at Benedictine University-Springfield in their first AMC conference game on the season starting at 2:00 p.m. Then, the team will finally host their home opener on Saturday against Park University, also starting at 2:00.
