Boy, 12, accidentally hangs himself in back yard
MARYLAND HEIGHTS (AP) - Funeral services are Wednesday for a 12-year-old suburban St. Louis boy who died in an accidental hanging in his back yard.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Ethan Ivinson was playing Friday where a child's "pumpkin" seat was hanging by two ropes from a branch. Maryland Heights Police Chief Bill Carson said Ethan was apparently standing on the seat, spinning in circles, and became tangled in the ropes.
The boy's father found him. The father and emergency workers tried to resuscitate Ethan, who was pronounced dead at a hospital.
