Boys and Girls Club of Columbia wraps virtual telethon
COLUMBIA - The Boys and Girls Club of Columbia raised nearly $51,000 in a virtual telethon on Saturday.
The telethon was conducted by Armchair Telethon and featured local artists. It was livestreamed on Facebook and Youtube and racked up 5,300 views, according to a press release from Armchair Telethon CEO Sean Spence.
Spence said the virtual telethon endured some technical difficulties, but finished on a high note.
"We had some minor freakouts when my Internet went out while I was managing the whole event from my laptop," Spence said in the press release. "And then when performers started texting for help when their internet went out; and then one of our performers had to cancel because she was dealing with a potentially fatal car accident; and then when two or three other major problems hit us at basically the same time.”
The Boys and Girls Club of Columbia is an organization that serves children ages 6 to 18. You can visit the club's website by clicking here.
