Bridge Decks to be Resurfaced on Route 161 in Pike County
HANNIBAL, MO - A project to put a new surface on several bridges in Pike County will begin next week. MoDOT's contractor, Pace Construction, will begin work on the Cuivre River and Indian Creek Bridges on Route 161 near New Hartford on Thursday, May 5. Crews will be working from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
The work consists of milling the approach to the bridge and bridge surface to remove high areas of the existing pavement for smoother travel, then resurfacing the approach and bridge, which is usually a one or two day process for each bridge, weather permitting. While crews are working, traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction through the work zone. All lanes will be opened to traffic at the end of each workday. However, motorists could be traveling on uneven and rough pavement. Flagmen will remain on site until the work zone has been removed. Please use extra caution when traveling through the work zone. Minor delays should be expected.
Other bridge decks and approaches to be improved are the Salt River and Horn Branch Bridges on Route 79 north of Louisiana, Grassy Creek and Tanyard Branch Bridges on Route 79 and Noix Creek Bridge on Route NN south of Louisiana. Chester Bross Construction Co, of Hannibal, MO will perform the improvements at these locations. This work has not yet been scheduled, but should occur this May as well.
