Burglary Suspects Added
The family is shocked and still recovering from Tuesday night's brutal break-in. At about 9:30 in the evening, armed burglars forced their way into their home on Citadel Drive in North Columbia.
The parents were away during the break-in. Five children were alone and held at gunpoint, while burglars ransacked the place. The children said they were looking for money, but there was none. The oldest child was then taken into her parent's bedroom and sexually assaulted.
Columbia Police made arrests Wednesday and are searching for additional suspects.
"We have taken into custody, and referred to the juvenile authorities, three juvenile suspects, and we believe there are more suspects that we are attempting to locate at this point," said Sgt. Ken Hammond from the Major Crimes Unit. Police say of the three in custody, one is 16-years old, and two 15-years old. Not all of the suspects are juveniles.
"The subjects we are attempting to locate at this point are possibly adults," said Hammond.
The children ran to their neighbor's home after the burglars left.
At 6 p.m. Wednedsay, Columbia Police announced they have issued a warrant for a fourth suspect. The fourth suspect is an adult, Christopher Lee Jacobs.
They're asking anyone with information on Jacobs call Crimestoppers at 875-TIPS.
