Business is Booming for Fireworks
The manager at Spirit of '76 wholesale fireworks says business is similar to last year, or even a little better.
At Bob's Fireworks, co-owner Bob Gerau says the average family spends between $50 and $100 dollars on fireworks. Gerau says his business has been steadily increasing for the past 45 years.
Both managers say the down economy actually helps fireworks sales.
"But the people aren't going for the big things anymore, as far as they're not going down to the lake, spending maybe $5,000 over the weekend," Gerau said. "So they go out and buy maybe a couple hundred bucks worth of fireworks, meet with somebody, have a barbecue, get the family all together, and that benefits our business."
"When more people stay home, you know, from vacations, if they're home they are going to come buy fireworks more than likely, so that's the reason I'd say it stays steady the whole time," Spirit of '76 manager Ryan Adams said.
