Butler, Gordon relish Royals' postseason success
KANSAS CITY (AP) - They endured it together, Billy Butler and Alex Gordon. All those years with 90 losses, the managerial changes and youth movements and empty seats come late September.
Now, the Royals' designated hitter and left fielder are reveling in their playoff run.
After arriving in 2007 and going through plenty of ups and downs, Butler and Gordon will lead the Royals into the best-of-seven AL Championship Series on Friday night in Baltimore.
Quite a way to end a 29-year postseason drought.
Butler, who was drafted in 2004, may have said it best: "For the fans, 30 years without feels like a lifetime. It's an eternity to me."
