FULTON - SERVE, Inc handed out free school supplies to Callaway County students on Saturday.

The first 800 people that arrived to Callaway Christian Church picked up notebooks, pens, shampoo and other items.

Outreach Program Director Brittany Lenhart said it's the fifth year and they reach out to local businesses to donate school supplies for children.

"It truly takes a village to raise a child and it's amazing to see our community come together and take care of so many of our county kids," Lenhart said.

Melissa Siegel works for YMCA of Callaway County and said they like to give back to the community in several ways, and it is important to support the youth.

There is no income qualifications to receive the free school supplies.
