Camden County Sheriff's Department confirms homicide investigation
CAMDEN COUNTY - An autopsy revealed the person found dead at a vacation home in southwestern Camden County Monday was a victim of homicide.
Sheriff's deputies were called to the home Monday after a body was found in a wooded area behind the residence near Chapel Bluff Road. As of Wednesday night, the Camden County Medical Examiner was still working on identifying the victim.
As a result of this examination, the victim's death is being ruled a homicide, according to a news release from the Camden County Sheriff's Department.
The caretaker of the property where the body was found was reported missing by the property owner last week, but the medical examiner still hasn't positively identified the victim.
Camden County detectives and Major Case Squad investigators are working to develop leads on potential suspects at this time. Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and said they don't believe there is any further threat to the public.
