Campaign Urges Teens to Buckle Up
Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death among teens.
MoDOT said seatbelt usage can prevent many of those crashes from becoming fatalities.
With many proms coming up and graduation near, MoDOT has introduced a new campaign targeting teens and seatbelt usage.
The campaign is a series of radio, TV and print ads showing realistic accidents involving teens who never make it to major milestones because they didn't buckle up.
Of the 3,500 fatal crashes involving teens, only 62 percent were wearing their seatbelt.
MoDOT said many of those deaths could have prevented if the teens had buckled up.
