COLUMBIA - Over 100 students gathered to mourn the loss of a 20-year-old MU student at the Sigma Pi fraternity house. Voices of the brothers at the Sigma Pi fraternity house could be heard as they sang a song for the deceased, Chris Nicklow. It was a song that the brothers wrote for him. The ceremony was short and lasted only 15 minutes but many stayed on to pay their last respects.

Nicklow was a sophomore and a food science major died from natural causes, according to an autopsy report.

He was found unresponsive in the bathroom of a house on Williams Street on Sunday night. He was pronounced dead after an ambulance took him to the hospital.

Sigma Pi Chapter Director Scott Evans said that he had an irregular heart and said reports showed his heart had enlarged when he died. Evans said it was a "rare genetic defect that your heart continues to grow."

Evans described him as happy, energetic and laid back. "He always had a smile on his face," Evans said.

Sigma Pi President Ben Baker said his favorite memory of Nicklow is when Baker would walk into the house everyday and find Nicklow with his new 8-week-old puppy. He said Nicklow was an easygoing guy.

This is the second death of an MU student in the past 3 weeks.

19-year-old Caleb Boedeker died on September 29, at the Alpha Gamma Rho house. Boedeker was also a sophomore at MU, majoring in Fisheries and Wildlife.
