Canoers Hit The Big Muddy
HUNTSDALE - About 50 canoers hit the water today for the Missouri River Communities Network "Canoe for Clean Water and River Fest."
There were two boat races, including one 46.5 mile race ending at Katfish Katy's.
Festival-goers enjoyed food from local vendors, Missouri beers, a blues band, and learned about the Missouri River, conservation, and wildlife.
"The Missouri River is a wonderful resource to get out and recreate," said Steve Johnson with the Missouri River Communities Network. "There's a lot of small businesses along the river, like the campgrounds, and wineries, and bicycle shops."
Organizers hope to host the festival and canoe race again in April or May of next year.
