Car Crash Kills Boy
The Missouri Highway Patrol says Devon Shoemaker of Columbia was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon at University Hospital.
Troopers say his mother, Miranda, was driving south on Route B when her car slid into oncoming traffic.
A truck hit the passenger side of Shoemaker's car. The boy was not in a child-safety seat, but was wearing a seat belt in the front passenger seat.
Shoemaker's four-year old nephew who was also in the car was treated and released from University Hospital. He was wearing a seat belt. Miranda Shoemaker was not wearing a seat belt, and suffered minor injuries.
The truck driver was not hurt, but his wife was hospitalized with possible leg injuries.
