Cardinals clinch NL Central in blowout win over Cubs
ST. LOUIS - It took all 162 games, but the Cardinals are the NL Central division champions.
The Cardinals poured it on the Cubs with home runs from Dexter Fowler, Matt Carpenter and Paul Goldschmidt to win 9-0 on Sunday.
Jack Flaherty was dominant once again, pitching seven scoreless innings while only giving up two hits and stricking out six. His season ERA drops to 2.75, which is good for sixth best in all of the MLB.
After three years of just missing the postseason, St. Louis is back.
The Cardinals will begin the NLDS in Atlanta against the Braves on Thursday.
