Cardinals complete sweep over Colorado Rockies
ST.LOUIS- Sunday night an offensive explosion led to an 11-4 Cardinals win over the Colorado Rockies to complete a series sweep.
Colorado started off early behind a Yonder Alonso RBI single and a Garrett Hampson solo home run to go up 2-0 in the top of the second inning.
The Cardinals responded right back in the bottom of the second. Dexter Fowler and Matt Carpenter led the way bringing in two runs to tie it up. Tommy Edman and Paul Goldschmidt followed with consecutive RBI hits to make it 6-2 going into the third.
Cardinals kept momentum as they would add five more runs from a Carpenter solo home run and a pair of RBI hits from Yadier Molina and Fowler to close out Colorado.
After a sweep of the Rockies, the Cardinals are now 2.5 games ahead of the Chicago Cubs and 4.5 games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers for the division.
The Cardinals will now head to Milwaukee for a important divisional match-up. The Cardinals will look to stay hot after winning 13 of their last 16 games.
