Cardinals take first game of the series over Brewers
MILWAUKEE - A six run 2nd inning set the momentum for a St. Louis win Monday night in Milwuakee.
The Cardinals took an early lead when two players scored on a Yadier Molina single.
St. Louis dominated the 2nd inning thanks to Marcell Ozuna's double with the bases loaded. Ozuna and Paul DeJong added to the lead with another double. The Cardinals led by eight at the end of the 2nd inning.
The Brewers did manage to put something on the board. Milwaukee came up with two runs, but a comeback was out of reach by the 6th inning, when the Cardinals led 11-2.
St. Louis went on to win the first game of the series 12-2 and continue to lead the NL central with 72 wins this season. St. Louis sits 3 games ahead of the Chicago Cubs.
They took a series win over Milwuakee two weeks ago and are looking for another on Tuesday.
