Cardinals take series over Pirates
ST. LOUIS - The Cardinals took a series win against the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday, 6-5.
The Pirates made the first score in the first inning with a home run by Starling Marte. Tyler O'Neill then singled and Tommy Edman scored in the bottom of the first to tie the game. The home run was O'Neill's fourth home run since the All-Star break.
The Pirates took the lead in the fourth inning with three runs, but O'Neill responded with a home run in the fifth inning.
Paul Goldschmidt slammed a home run in the seventh inning which allowed for Edman and Jose Martinez to score, putting the Cardinals back in the lead.
The Cardinals will visit Cincinnati Thursday to begin the series against the Reds.
