Caroling Scarecrows Bring Christmas Cheer
"Community art is just a great way to get the creative juices flowing," said Joy Amuedo with Americorps.
Americorps works with integrating the disabled into the community.
"This isn't a project especially for this group of people with disabilities. It's a project for the whole community. And people with disabilities are a part of our community," said Amuedo.
Americorps says the project did a good job of incorporating Americorps participants and the community. About half of these scarecrows came from each.
"We're a tremendously diverse community, but with all that diversity, the Columbia community very often comes together to do some really cool things," said Amuedo.
Things that help participants in more ways than one.
Organizers say there definitely weren't rules for these "caroling scarecrows."
Americorps will take the scarecrows down the day after Christmas.
