Carthage Meat Processor Recalls Thousands of Pounds of Meat
JEFFERSON CITY - A Carthage meat processor voluntarily recalled roughly 1,450 pounds of ground beef and pork, sausage and steaks products that could possibly be contaminated with E. coli.
Sample test results from a routine test conducted by the Missouri Department of Agriculture's Meat and Poultry Inspection Program showed positive results for non-0157 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STECs) in Clouds Meats, Inc.'s meats. The Department's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Springfield analyzed the results. The samples with positive results were produced in mid-November.
The recalled produced are marked with the code "318" and labeled with Clouds Meats, Inc. or Cloud's Smoked Meats. The company estimated it will recall 1,052 pounds of ground beef, 158 pounds of pork sausage, 152 pounds of ground pork, and 96 pounds of Tenderized Minute Steak and Tenderized Round Steak.
The Missouri Department of Agriculture said records indicated the products have not been sold in retail locations. If anyone has these products, they should return them to 2013 S. Paradise Lane in Carthage.
