Central Methodist Pitcher wins weekly award
FAYETTE - The Heart of America Athletic Conference announced Monday that Central Methodist pitcher CJ Martin was selected for the first Pitcher of the Week award of the 2017 season.
“I am proud of his accomplishment,” said CMU head baseball coach Nate Breland. “He had a solid first outing. We have a lot to work on still this early in the season.”
Martin started the first game of the season for the Eagles on Friday afternoon, dominating his first start in a CMU uniform. Martin tossed all seven innings in the Eagles 10-0 victory at Blue Mountain College in Mississippi. On 83 pitches, Martin allowed just five hits and struck out three.
The Eagles return to action this weekend when they travel to Henderson, Tennessee for games against Freed-Hardeman University and Roosevelt University.
