Central Methodist's Tillman Named Co-Player of the Year

KANSAS CITY - Three Central Methodist players, headlined by Co-Player of the Year Melvin Tillman, have been named to the 2014 All-Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Teams. Tillman was voted to the first team. Mitchell Farr was named to the third team, while Eric McDaniel was an honorable mention selection.

Tillman, who started all 28 games during the regular season in which he appeared and shares Player of the Year with Evangel senior forward Zach Kleine, ranks 9th in NAIA Division I in assists, 10th in assists per game, 12th in points per game, 15th in scoring, 17th in assist/turnover ratio, 33rd in three-point field goals made (66) and 40th in three-point field goals made per game; he recorded a three-point field goal percentage 0.413. The senior guard ranks in the top 10 of the HAAC in scoring, scoring average, field goal percentage, three-point field goal percentage, three-pointers made per game, assists, assists per game and assist/turnover ratio. The Richmond, Indiana, native has five games of 32 or more points this season, most in the league.

Tillman ranks 12th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,392 points.

Farr, who has started all 30 games this season, ranks fourth in the country in three-point field goals made, seventh in three-point field goals made per game, 28th in scoring and 42nd in points per game. The junior guard and Racine, Wisconsin, product leads the HAAC in three-pointers made and ranks in the top 10 of treys made per contest, scoring, scoring average, field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage.

McDaniel, who has appeared in 30 games this season while starting the last 16, ranks eighth in Division I in offensive rebounds per game, 21st in rebounds, and 33rd in rebounds per game, with 7.700. The junior forward and Kansas City native leads the HAAC in offensive rebounds per game and ranks in the top 10 of steals, steals per game, rebounds, rebounds per game, defensive rebounds per game, blocks and double doubles.

Tillman and Kleine square off Wednesday as five-seed Central Methodist travels to four-seed Evangel, ranked 19th nationally, for the HAAC Tournament Quarterfinals. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT.
