Centralia police lift lockdown after home invasion suspect flees
CENTRALIA - A lockdown at Centralia Public Schools was lifted early Tuesday afternoon after police said a suspect entered a woman's home near the school and then fled.
Centralia Police Lt. Robert Bias said authorities got a call just before 11 a.m. from a homeowner in the 400 block of South Rollins St. who said she found a man in her basement who she did not know. Upon leaving the home, police said the woman saw the man run off and she called authorities.
After police got the call, they alerted Centralia Public Schools who issued a lockdown as a precaution. Superintendent Darin Ford said he did not believe the school was under an immediate threat. The lockdown was lifted at about 12:45 p.m.
Lt. Bias said officers did not know whether the subject was armed and they had not located him as of 3 p.m. Ford said the district had no reason to believe the subject was dangerous.
