Charges filed against Chariton County woman fleeing deputies
RANDOLPH COUNTY - Prosecutors filed charges Thursday against a Chariton County woman accused of escaping from and then shooting at a deputy Wednesday.
Sadonna Staton is facing seven charges, including escape with a deadly weapon, assault, armed criminal action and tampering with a vehicle.
Deputies were taking Staton back to the county jail after medical treatment in Moberly when they said she attempted to escape. Investigators said she and deputies exchanged several shots before she stole one of their vehicles, eventually crashing and fleeing on foot.
Witnesses said Staton was naked and climbed a telephone pole at one point to avoid capture.
She was caught soon after, according to Sgt. Eric Brown with Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B.
