Charity Meets Year-End Goal
Ameren's donation helped the club reach its $70,000 goal for the year. The donation goes directly to Project Learn, which serves 400 members of the Boys and Girls Club. The after-school program focuses on helping students excel in the classroom by giving them help with homework. The Boys And Girls Club says the program's attendance points to a success.
"You can always tell how good your program is doing by your populations of youth that come here. Well, our program is packed and we have a waiting list so that shows we have something that the community wants," Anderson said.
But that service comes at a cost.
"We always need funding but bigger than that we need folks who will get behind us," Anderson said.
The Boys and Girls Club will hold a fundraiser Friday morning at the Best Buy in Jefferson City. They will be selling coffee and doughnuts to early morning shoppers.
