KANSAS CITY — Former Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a three-year deal "in principle" according to ESPN.

Daniel has been backing up New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees since 2009. He was an undrafted free agent signed by the Washington Redskins before being dropped and signing with the Saints.

The Chiefs may have two new quarterbacks as they completed the deal with former San Francisco 49er Alex Smith today.

Daniel played for the Tigers from 2006 through 2008. He finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy Balloting in 2007.
