Child impaled by fence at Governor's mansion
JEFFERSON CITY - A 10-year-old was hospitalized Tuesday after she was impaled by a fence outside of the Governor's mansion close to 2 p.m.
The fourth grader was impaled on a wrought iron fence while on a school trip. Officials said they used rescue tools to cut the fence leaving it so that it could be removed at the hospital.
Officials said the girl was walking along the ornamental fence toward the mansion entrance when it happened. The point of the fence went through her left arm.
The Jefferson City Fire Department and Cole County EMS responded to the scene.
