Citi Capital Lays Off Another 40-50 Workers
Moberly Economic Development Corp. President Russell Runge said the latest layoffs are part of a consolidation effort by Citi Capital. Last year, the company shifted the Moberly jobs to Dallas, Texas. This time, the jobs are going to New Jersey.
"We'll keep working with Citi Capital and see what their plans are," said Runge, "and we hope that they'll work with us in trying to find a respected tenant for the building. That's our main goal, obviously, to try to find these folks the same type of job here in Moberly. We're very fortunate in that we have few layoffs. It just really shows the pride that the community has and the quality that the labor force is for this area, because we really don't have this happen often and it's unfortunate, but these things do happen. Corporate decisions are out of our hands."
Citi Capital in Moberly wouldn't comment and the national office didn't return KOMU's calls.
