City Council approves speed bumps to school zone
COLUMBIA - The Columbia City Council unanimously approved the addition of speed bumps to Derby Ridge Drive near Derby Ridge Elementary School Monday.
The decision came after the city council had a public hearing at its regular meeting. Original meetings held by interested parties discussed two different plans for addition of speed bumps, but eventually they decided to propose adding eight total speed bumps with four north of Smiley Lane and four south of Smiley Lane.
Early estimates predict eight speed bumps would cost around $32,000. The speed bumps would have to be replaced every fifteen years.
